Wow, Las Fallas
It hasn´t even started yet and I´m already taken aback. The paper-mache and polyurathane statues standing around the city are called ninots and fallas, depending on their size, I think. The large, main statues are called fallas and are selected and approved by the Fallas Council, which is part of the municipal government. This celebration is an elaborate spectacle which I will write more about later.
I ow so many storise to this blog! It is too bad I am so behind... Since my last post I have been to Germany, England, Spain, France, and now I´m back in Spain. I´m not feeling so eloquent now so I won´t get into it quite yet.
You may notice on the right side of the web page that I have added an email list and calendar. The email list you can subscribe to and be notified of when I add a blog entry. Yay! No longer do you have to reload this page every hour for weeks a stretch, waiting, just waiting, for the next entry! And the calendar I will try to keep up to date with my travel details, so you can know where I will be whenever.
Right now I am sitting at a computer in a lovely little hostel in downtown Valencia. I actaully booked the last bed available in the hostel yesterday. Perhaps the last hostel bed available in the whole city from teh sounds of things. I have already met some wonderful people here, and I think that will continue as the week progresses. I guess no-one throws a week-long party like the Valencians...
