Saturday Evening in Fauske

Hello all who enter here!

Welcome to my shiny, new blog! This is my first post and will be boring. You may stop reading now. Anytime. Come on, the rest is dull, stop reading. Are you still reading? You shouldn't be... Okay, that was annoying. I have successfully annoyed myself. Great. Well, right now I am sitting on the couch in 'my room' in my father's house in Fauske, Norway. It's a small town of around 8000 people, located approximately 100km north of the arctic circle. There are around 20 days of complete darkness around Christmas, and around 20 days of complete daylight around the summer solstice. Talking to my generation within my family, there is nothing to do here. More fun are a couple of neighbouring communities. Bodø is the nearest larger community, having around 40,000 people, a few discotechs, many restaurants, a couple decent downtown streets for shopping, and a job surplus. It's a larger community with the normal ammenities. Then there's Sulitjelma, fondly referred to as Sulis, sporting around 500 citizens, and no police. This is a community in which to have fun, I guess. In the summer there is much illegal 4+wheeler activity, in the winter big things happen on skidoos. My younger cousin has promised to show me the ropes and take me out there someday. I think I may get discharged from the country as a result. We'll see.

I am just getting home from a big night in Bodø. Well, not really. My step brothers, Simon and Daniel, Daniel's girlfriend, Ann, and their daughter, Andrea, went to Bodø to go rock climbing. I mentioned one day that I missed my bouldering from Halifax, so they took me out here. It was really nice. Although the rock climbing gym they took me to was really small, it did the trick and satisfied my craving. For the time being. After which we went back to Daniel and Ann's place for a supper of Norwegified lasagne and baguettes. Strange, but yummy. When most people were falling asleep on the couches, I decided it was a good time to leave, so I left. When I got here, my father was still awake so we talked for a while. It will be interesting to get to know him, man to man.

Anyway, this is a test message. So I will stop now in case I lose it all.
